Job summary

The City of Madera is seeking a Public Safety Dispatcher to manage the full scope of dispatch duties, maintain field communications with public safety personnel, and coordinate incidents via radio and phone. Shifts rotate and overtime may be required.

Ideal candidates have at least one year of public contact experience, a high school diploma, a valid CDL, and POST/DOJ certifications or the ability to obtain them within one year of appointment.

Qualifications

• One year of public contact experience (paid or volunteer).
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid CDL is required.
• Dispatch Certificate from POST and DOJ training within one year of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain field communications with public safety personnel with minimal supervision.
• Receive emergency and non-emergency requests and dispatch via radio and telephone.
• Provide telecommunications support and incident coordination for field units.
• Work shifts will rotate and overtime may be required.
