Job summary

County of Davidson is seeking a communications dispatcher to handle emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatch law enforcement units, and monitor field safety.

The role requires high school graduation, some communications experience, and successful background screening. North Carolina driver’s license and relevant certifications are required. The position offers a starting hourly salary with room for qualifications-based advancement.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and some communications experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must pass a criminal background screening.
• Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license is required.
• Possession of NC Telecommunicator and Division of Criminal Information (DCI) certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Answers emergency and non-emergency telephone calls and dispatches law enforcement.
• Operates radios to relay information to appropriate personnel and uses computer-aided dispatch.
• Monitors location and status of deputies in the field to ensure safety.
• Enters data from warrants/orders into computer and notifies agencies when served.
• Performs property checks and dispatches wrecker services as requested.
