Job summary

Wallowa County is seeking a dependable Emergency Communications Dispatcher for its 911 center. The role handles emergency and nonemergency calls, prioritizes incidents, and dispatches police, fire, and medical units while maintaining calm under pressure.

Ideal candidates will be strong communicators, able to multitask, and comfortable working in a 24/7 public safety environment. Training and certifications are provided by the county.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Typing speed of 40 wpm or greater preferred.
• Successfully complete required pre-employment testing including written, oral, typing, multitasking assessments.
• Complete comprehensive background investigation including fingerprinting and drug screening.
• Meet DPSST requirements and medical standards.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process emergency and nonemergency calls and radio communications.
• Evaluate information, determine priorities, and dispatch appropriate public safety resources.
• Operate multiple dispatch systems and maintain accurate records.
• Provide continuous communications support to public safety personnel in the field.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and ensure regular attendance.
