Hiring Incentive:
- TCOLE Telecommunicator Certified: $5,000

Work Schedule: This position requires the ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Position Overview:
Under general supervision, receives, screens, and dispatches calls for police, fire, and medical services. The role involves prioritizing calls, dispatching responders, maintaining unit status, and managing records and inquiries.
Essential Job Functions:
- Answer incoming emergency and non-emergency calls via telephone or radio.
- Prioritize calls and dispatch appropriate personnel.
- Maintain awareness of police units and monitor alarms.
- Provide detailed call information to officers.
- Coordinate with neighboring agencies for support.
- Enter incident data into records management systems.
- Prepare reports on calls and responses.
- Verify warrants and perform criminal history checks using NCIC/TCIC/NCTCIC.
- Manage warrants, stolen property, missing persons, and protective orders data.
- Perform administrative duties such as accepting payments and issuing receipts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent, with at least one year dispatch experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Must pass drug screening and Criticall test.
- Must obtain Basic Telecommunicators Certification through TCOLE within one year of hire; current TCOLE license preferred.
- Additional certifications may be required.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of police communication equipment and procedures.
- Proficiency with computers and related hardware/software.
- Understanding of police patrol procedures and city geography.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations.
- Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Environmental and Physical Conditions:
- Work is performed in a high-volume call center environment.
- Repetitive motions such as typing may be required.
- Potential exposure to distressed citizens.
