Job summary

The City of Fairhope (AL) is seeking an experienced Dispatcher Supervisor to oversee the Communications Center and provide dispatch support for police, fire, and EMS. The role includes supervising staff, scheduling, and enforcing dispatch standards while managing CAD, RMS, and MDS systems.

As the Agency Information Security Officer, you will handle NCIC/Ala COP accounts and training, cover dispatcher shifts as needed, and ensure SOP compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 3 years of Dispatcher or Supervisory work experience.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability.
• Notary Public designation required.
• NCIC and Ala COP certifications are required.
• APCO/NENA Supervisor training within 12 months of hire.
• Type at least 25 words per minute.
• Able to work non-standard hours and on-call 24/7.
• Must be able to travel and pass background/drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, direct, and evaluate unit staff; conduct performance appraisals.
• Plan and direct shift activities; manage overtime and schedules.
• Coordinate dispatch, CAD/RMS/MDS operations, and system maintenance.
• Monitor dispatch logs and SOP compliance; provide training.
• Maintain NCIC/Ala COP accounts and interfaces; ensure security.
