Job summary

City of Fairhope seeks a Dispatch Supervisor to lead the Communications Center, oversee CAD/RMS/MDS systems, enforce SOPs, and coordinate cross-agency communications. The role also includes NCIC/Ala COP account management and staff training; shift coverage as needed.

The ideal candidate has dispatch supervisory experience, strong decision-making under pressure, and the ability to work non-standard hours. Background check and drug screening are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of three years of work experience as a Dispatcher or Supervisory experience.
• Possess a current and valid driver’s license; must be insurable.
• Possess and maintain NCIC and Alabama COP certifications.
• Ability to complete APCO/NENA Supervisor training within twelve months of hire.
• Ability to type at least 25 words per minute.
• Ability to work non-standard hours and be on-call 24/7.
• Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff; handles training and performance appraisals.
• Plans and directs shift activities and staffing; authorizes overtime.
• Reviews SOPs and dispatch logs to ensure proper procedures.
• Manages CAD/RMS/MDS systems and NCIC/Ala COP access.
• Coordinates intra- and inter-agency communications during investigations.
• Maintains logs and records; prepares reports and documentation.
