Job summary

City of Hayward is seeking a Communications Administrator (COH) to lead the police and fire dispatch center, plan and direct operations, and implement policies that maximize efficiency for calls for service.

The role includes budget preparation, staff supervision, policy development, and coordination with external agencies. Requires at least three years in supervisory dispatch, POST certification, and a relevant degree or coursework.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of supervisory experience in emergency dispatching.
• Education equivalent to high school with college coursework in supervision/management or related field.
• Possession of Basic POST Dispatch Course Certificate and CA Class C Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Develops and updates section goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
• Directs police and fire communications center activities and analyzes shift reports.
• Prepares and monitors the budget; coordinates staffing, equipment and supplies.
• Oversees accreditation efforts and staff training; conducts evaluations.
