Job summary

Office of Chief Medical Examiner in New York City is seeking a Community Assistant to support administrative and data-entry tasks for case intake and investigations. The role requires clear communication with law enforcement, medical facilities, and the public.

The position involves learning data-entry procedures, coordinating with Medicolegal Investigators, and assisting the Medical Examiner Transport Team to recover cases, with potential for shift variation including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• No formal education or experience required; ability to understand and carry out simple instructions.
• Candidates must be able to understand and be understood in English.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephones and obtain vital information from law enforcement agencies, medical facilities, funeral homes, hospital nursing homes, and the public.
• Learns to accurately enters data into OCME's Case Intake database system.
• Learns to notify Medicolegal Investigators of their assigned cases and all pertinent information necessary to investigate that case.
• Trains in providing all pertinent information necessary to the Medical Examiner Transport Team to recover assigned cases.
• Provide all pertinent information necessary to agency staff to support high profile and/or emergency operations.
