Job summary

City of New York’s Office of Chief Medical Examiner seeks a Community Assistant to support communications and case intake for investigative work. You will answer calls, gather information from law enforcement, medical facilities, funeral homes, and the public, and help keep OCME data accurate.

Under supervision, you will notify Medicolegal Investigators of assigned cases and assist the Medical Examiner Transport Team with case details.

Qualifications

• There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position.
• Candidates must understand and be understood in English.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephones and collect information from law enforcement, medical facilities, funeral homes, hospitals, and the public.
• Learn to enter data into OCME's Case Intake database.
• Learn to notify Medicolegal Investigators of assigned cases and pertinent information.
• Train in providing all pertinent information to the Medical Examiner Transport Team to recover assigned cases.
• Provide information to agency staff to support high profile and/or emergency operations.
