Job summary

Indiana University Public Safety is seeking a Cadet for the IU Police Department (IUPD). The role performs non-law enforcement duties, including radio dispatch and security assignments for buildings and events, while coordinating with staff, students, and visitors.

Cadets must be a full-time IU student with a 2.5 GPA and hold a valid driver’s license. Additional duties involve staying informed on campus developments and adhering to university policies, with the potential to transition to the IU

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a full-time student at Indiana University with a 2.5 GPA or higher.
• Possess a valid driver's license.
• Must be 21 years of age upon graduation from the Police Academy.

Responsibilities

• Supports non-law enforcement duties for IUPD, including radio dispatch and security assignments for buildings and events.
• Liaises with staff, faculty, students, and visitors; briefs others on situational developments.
• Observes and reports suspicious activity and enforces university policy under supervision.
• May need to call for a sworn officer to detain or arrest when necessary.
