Job summary

Indiana University Police Department (IUPD) seeks a Cadet to perform non-law enforcement duties, including radio dispatch, building and event security, and other assignments that require IUPD presence without sworn officers. Cadets coordinate with staff and remain informed on daily developments across IU campuses.

Must be a full-time IU student with a 2.5 GPA, hold a valid driver's license, and be at least 21 by graduation. Excellent communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a full-time student at Indiana University and in good academic standing with a 2.5 GPA.
• Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire.
• 21 years of age upon graduation from the Police Academy.

Responsibilities

• Performs non-law enforcement duties for IUPD including radio dispatch duties, security assignments for buildings and events.
• Works on special assignments that require the presence of IUPD but not a sworn officer.
• Liaises with other workers and keeps the department advised on situational developments.
• Observes and reports suspicious activity, enforces university policy, and escalates to a sworn officer when needed.
