The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston seeks a Public Relations Associate to join the Marketing and Communications team. You will write and edit press materials, conduct media outreach, monitor coverage, and create compelling content for MFA channels.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Communications, you will support events, coordinate media previews, and assist with budget processes. This role requires strong writing, project management, and social media savvy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of communications experience with project management skills.
  • Excellent writing and communications skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and with multiple teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong familiarity with social media platforms, especially Instagram and TikTok.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit press materials, including releases, advisories, and fact sheets, and maintain exhibition schedules.
  • Conduct media outreach to local, regional, and national outlets to promote MFA initiatives.
  • Monitor media coverage and compile reports; organize press materials and distribution.
  • Create engaging content for MFA social media channels and support digital campaigns.
  • Coordinate press previews and other PR events with cross-department collaboration.
  • Assist with media room updates and image requests using the Cision database.
  • Track vendor invoices and assist with annual budget processes.
