Job summary

Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office in Richmond, TX is hiring a Records Specialist to input, transfer, and archive records. You will assist the public and law enforcement, handle subpoenas, and respond to Open Records requests. Position requires organizing records securely and supporting emergency management tasks.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, basic computer and typing skills, and the ability to prioritize work. Nelson-Denny testing is required.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.
  • Six months job related experience.
  • Good computer and typing skills.
  • Working knowledge of database software.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.
  • Ability to prioritize own work.
  • TCIC/NCIC less than Full Access within first year of employment.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Inputs and transfers reports and supplements into computer database; Prepares records for scanning and archiving.
  • Assists and responds to public and other law enforcement personnel at lobby window or by telephone and/or directs to appropriate person.
  • Answers incoming mail, fax and NCIC/TCIC for inquiries on reports and background checks.
  • Files and maintains filing system for all official accident, case and jail records for the department; Maintains security for all records.
  • Maintains cash fund and prepares weekly cash deposits.
  • Prepares TLETS validations; Prepares computer merges.
  • Prepares information requested in subpoenas for court appearances and information requested in Open Records Request.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
