Job summary

Baltimore County Public Library seeks a Librarian to proactively assist customers, provide information, and lead programs across branches. The role emphasizes outreach, device and reference support, and managing daily transactions.

You will collaborate with staff to coordinate events, guide readers, and ensure a high standard of public service, including evenings and weekends as required. A MLS pathway is supported through LATI or MLS progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
• Completion of the Library Associate Training Institute (LATI) within two years of hire, or 90 hours towards MLS from an ALA accredited school within two years of hire with MLS within 3 years of hire.
• Minimum of two years of customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and present programs and outreach events for all age groups, in-person and virtual.
• Coordinate location-specific activities for focuses like age groups or programs.
• Assist customers with information, resources and referrals.
• Process all material types and devices and manage daily money and deposits.
• Guide customers in selecting materials and manage library accounts, including payments.
• Assist users with public computers, online resources, and downloading digital content.
• Support branch initiatives and community services; act as librarian-in-charge when needed.
• Build relationships with community partners and manage schedules to meet location needs.
