Qualifications

• Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Information, or a related field.
• Two years of full-time professional experience in public information, or as a writer/editor in print or broadcast media.
• Experience showing knowledge of the department's operations is desired.

Responsibilities

• Writes and edits news releases, speeches, talking points, newsletters and related materials.
• Represents the department and county in appearances with media; maintains media contacts.
• Plans multi-media informational programs and coordinates open houses, events, and press conferences.
• Prepares speeches, presentations, and visual materials with graphic staff; coordinates distribution.
• Responds to media inquiries and coordinates interviews and media coverage.
