Job summary

Clark County Washington is seeking a Communications Specialist to support internal and external department communications. The role involves creating content for social media, brochures, annual reports, presentations, and websites, and coordinating with the Public Health Communications team to promote department activities and health messaging.

The ideal candidate will have strong writing and editing skills, experience in public relations, and the ability to convey complex health information

Qualifications

• Associates of Arts degree, or equivalent, from an accredited college or university with major coursework in communications, English, public relations, journalism or a related field.
• Two years of professional experience in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field.
• Excellent writing, editing, presentation and public speaking skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities and implement strategies to reach public health audiences through written and visual materials, web-based communications, social media, advertising, and public presentations.
• Collaborate with department staff and Communications team to plan, develop, manage and evaluate content for department social media platforms.
• Assist in planning, executing and evaluating department communication campaigns.
• Collaborate with staff to develop public information materials that simplify complex ideas for diverse audiences.
• Adhere to branding and style guidelines for public information materials.
