Job summary

Craven County Government Health Department seeks a reliable Switchboard Operator to route calls, provide information on services and clinic hours, and assist with record requests. Qualifications

• High school diploma required with two years of office assistant/secretarial experience or equivalent.
• Experience in medical office or switchboard preferred.
• Ability to communicate with courtesy and tact and proper telephone etiquette.

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage calls on the switchboard and direct them to the appropriate staff.
• Provide information on services, clinic hours, and directions to the Health Department.
• Maintain a phone listing of frequently requested numbers (e.g., CEMC, DMV, Register of Deeds).
• Process requests for copying immunization records and related tasks.
• Assist with scanning/filing into medical records and manage Telecommunication Relay Services.
• Assist in disaster events as needed.
