Job summary

Kansas Department of Health and Environment is seeking a programmatic and administrative technical assistant to support health departments and preparedness regions. The role focuses on training delivery, data review, and coordination of federal and state preparedness efforts.

You will manage KS‑HAN, develop protocols, and assist with contract renewals while working with communications teams to update public pages. A strong background in training and public health operations is preferred.

Qualifications

  • One year of experience planning, organizing, and directing a program or department.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Proofreading, editing, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Calm performance under stressful conditions; effective meeting planning and partnership building.

Responsibilities

  • Review data submissions to improve preparedness levels across regions.
  • Provide training to external partners and manage training data in KansasTRAIN.
  • Coordinate preparedness training and monitor attendance and rosters.
  • Communicate CHEMPACK program information between federal and local partners.
  • Serve as KDHE system administrator for KS HAN and support related tasks.
