Job summary

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) seeks a Public Service Manager 1 to lead the Issuance and Registration section within the Bureau of Health Statistics in Des Moines, IA. This full-time role includes supervising staff, coordinating with legal and data teams, and implementing policy for vital records issuance and registration.

Responsibilities include performance evaluations, training, budget and schedule management, and safeguarding confidential data in accordance with Iowa

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience in program administration, development, management, or operations.
• Eight years of full-time work experience in program administration, development, management, or operations.
• Alternative combinations of education and experience as described in the official minimum requirements.

Responsibilities

• Directly manages and evaluates the work of subordinate staff and approves performance outcomes.
• Conducts hiring decisions, onboarding, training, and ongoing development for staff.
• Oversees issuance and registration program functions within the section to ensure secure, compliant operations.
• Sets priorities, monitors progress, and recommends process changes to improve section performance.
• Coordinates with legal, data management, and other offices to ensure Iowa law compliance and data security.
• Serves as Security Coordinator for the section and ensures fraud prevention standards are met.
