Job summary

The Tennessee Department of Health seeks a Public Health Program Director 1 to support Parents as Teachers (PAT) evidence-based home visiting across the state. This hybrid Nashville-based role drives quality, implementation, and continuous improvement for TDH-funded PAT programs.

Responsibilities include consulting with local grantees, conducting QA visits, and coordinating professional development, policy alignment, and grant activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Professional experience in maternal and/or child health.
• At least two years of prevention-focused home visiting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support development and operation of PAT state office designation and program quality.
• Provide consultation and technical assistance to local PAT grantees.
• Conduct quality assurance visits to assess implementation and drive improvement.
• Facilitate model-specific meetings, communities of practice, and professional development.
• Collaborate with TDH staff to align PAT policies with broader Early Childhood systems.
• Partner with epidemiology and CQI staff to evaluate measures and support data-driven improvement.
• Serve as liaison with Parents as Teachers National Center.
• Assist with grant development, planning, and conference activities.
• Participate in state and national advisory groups and work with partners.
• Build relationships with state/local partners and promote health equity.
