We are seeking a Public Health Program Director to help ensure program, contract, and model requirements are met and that high-quality home visiting services to improve outcomes for pregnant women, young children, and high-risk families across Tennessee.
Key Responsibilities
- Help lead Tennessee’s Parents as Teachers state office, including statewide coordination, affiliate support, model replication, training, technical assistance, quality improvement, and work with the national office.
- Support local grantees through consultation, contract updates, quality reviews, site visits, needs assessment, and program improvement.
- Lead model meetings and Communities of Practice, and align policies, referrals, and services with Tennessee’s early childhood and evidence-based home visiting systems.
- Work with ECI staff, the Epidemiologist, and CQI Director to review measures, evaluate interventions, and improve quality.
- Assist with grants, conferences, and other manager-assigned work; join state and national committees and advisory groups.
- Build strong state and local partnerships, represent TDH, promote health equity and workforce diversity, reduce disparities, and include parent and family voices.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood, home visiting, family support, or a related field; master’s preferred.
- Maternal or child health experience; two years of prevention-focused home visiting experience preferred.
- Leadership experience in consultation, training, supervision, or administration preferred.
- Knowledge of home visiting for pregnant women and families with young children.
- Experience in program monitoring, planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and consultation.
- Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, stakeholder engagement, training, and meeting facilitation skills.
- Must live in Tennessee when hired.
- Hybrid role with at least one office day each week; extra office days and in-person TDH meetings may be required.
- Travel within Tennessee is required and may include national meetings, conferences, and state events.
- First-day onboarding and laptop pickup are in Nashville. Nashville visits are required at least quarterly or as requested for meetings and professional development; travel to the central office is not reimbursed.
- Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., 37.5 hours per week. No overtime eligibility.
