Job summary

MERIEUX NUTRISCIENCES Crete Analytical Laboratory in Crete, IL is seeking a Microbiology Technician for the Crete, IL facility. Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 2:00 PM start.

You will prepare samples for processing and maintain documentation to support testing procedures. The role involves weighing, plating, incubating, and reading plates; use of LIMS, maintaining safety, and contributing to quality and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma and 1+ year relevant work. Basic science knowledge to perform testing procedures and obtain results.
• Basic computer skills to enter testing data and results.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and policies.
• Planning skills to maintain supplies and ensure timely analysis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sample for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
• Label plates with IDs to track client and sample numbers.
• Pipette solutions into tubes or plates according to analysis steps.
• Pour agar into plates or tubes to begin growth.
• Incubate plates at specified times and temperatures.
• Prepare media and broth for pathogen testing as required.
• Maintain knowledge of LIMS for job responsibilities.
• Set up equipment and materials needed for analysis.
• Read plates/tubes to determine organism counts.
• Support quality and continuous improvement processes.
• Keep work areas clean and sanitized; assist in retain samples.
• Adhere to safety policies; participate in cleaning schedule.
