Job summary

State of Indiana seeks a microbiologist for IDOH Labs Serology in the Indianapolis area. The role supports HIV, Hepatitis, immunization and related public health programs, with serological surveillance, outbreak testing and data reporting.

Responsibilities include testing, QC/QA documentation, coordination with facilities and agencies, and potential expert testimony. CLIA compliance and collaboration with CDC are key components of the job.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a biological, chemical, or physical science with at least 2 years of relevant testing experience.
• CLIA high‑complexity testing eligibility or required credential.
• Proficiency in interpreting laboratory results and problem solving.
• Experience with quality control and quality assurance procedures.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct procedures of clinical specimens and/or reference samples for serological analysis and identification of micro-organisms or their antigens/nucleic acids.
• Evaluate, interpret, and report laboratory results to the submitter.
• Coordinate preparation and quality assurance activities for laboratory methods and equipment.
• Maintain documentation of quality control and assurance per CLIA regulations.
• Collaborate with HIV, hepatitis and STI programs and with local labs and public health partners.
