Job summary

The Florida Department of Health in Duval County seeks an intermediate-level Health Educator to support HIV prevention and health education activities across community settings. You’ll plan and deliver education on PrEP, HIV testing, linkage to care, and risk reduction, and participate in outreach initiatives and program planning.

You will provide technical assistance to staff, report on outreach activities, and help engage partnerships with community organizations.

Qualifications

• Experience in public health, health education, disease control programs, or related community programs.
• Experience educating clients about HIV, including transmission, prevention, treatment, and engagement in medical care.
• At least 3 years of experience working with individuals diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.
• A valid, unrestricted driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates evidence-based HIV health education and prevention activities for individuals and populations.
• Provides health education regarding HIV prevention, PrEP, nPEP, HIV testing, treatment, and linkage to care.
• Coordinates PrEP, nPEP, Test and Treat within Area 4 and collaborates with program supervisor.
• Provides technical assistance to staff and participates in professional development trainings.
• Reports monthly on outreach/volunteer activities and participates in community education events.
