Job summary

Florida Department of Health is seeking a Human Services Program Specialist in Viera, FL to support HIV prevention programs and services. You will coordinate with jails and treatment facilities, conduct interviews, and provide pre/post-test counseling and rapid testing in clinics and outreach settings.

You will organize campaigns, manage client records in CAREWare, and ensure timely referrals to care. A degree and HIV care experience are required, with state benefits and on-site work in Florida.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree with 2 years HIV care experience or substitute education on a year-for-year basis.
• 2 years experience in health and social client-centered intervention management.
• Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and electronic client management systems experience.
• Organized or participated in an HIV/AIDS awareness, education or prevention event.
• Experience communicating results after testing/treatment/counseling with clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to community-based organizations, private business and medical entities on HIV prevention programs and/or services.
• Organize and participate in local HIV prevention campaigns and events.
• Coordinate with local jail, drug treatment facilities, to provide HIV testing and follow-up care.
• Conduct interviews to educate clients and refer partners to care.
• Communicate health literacy activities to increase awareness and access to HIV care.
• Provide HIV pre and post-test counseling and rapid testing in clinics and outreach settings.
• Serve as liaison with HIV Early Intervention Services and maintain CAREWare client files.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
