Florida Department of Health in Citrus County is seeking an OPS Environmental Specialist I in Lecanto, FL. This temporary OPS position supports environmental health programs, conducts inspections, and provides technical assistance to the public and private sectors in line with state rules.

The incumbent will perform site evaluations, review applications, inspect facilities handling biomedical waste, storage tanks, and pool facilities, and maintain comprehensive records in EHD/HMS.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental health, environmental science, or physical/biological science with at least 30 semester hours or 40 quarter hours.
• CEHP in Food Protection or OSTDS or REHS/RS or able to become certified within six months.
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain within six months.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours; emergency duties may be required.

Aufgaben

• Review OSTDS applications and determine suitability for installation.
• Inspect above ground and underground storage tanks; investigate spills and file compliance reports.
• Inspect facilities handling biomedical waste, tattooing, tanning, food service, pools, housing for group care.
• Investigate sanitary nuisance complaints and enforce corrective actions.
• Enter data into Environmental Health Database and HMS; generate reports.
• Attend staff trainings and communicate with the public and partners.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
