Job summary

The Florida Department of Health in Citrus County is seeking an OPS Environmental Specialist I in Lecanto, FL to support environmental health programs and ensure regulatory compliance across OSTDS, storage tanks, biomedical waste, tattoo, tanning, food hygiene, and pools.

You will conduct inspections, review applications, prepare reports, and educate the public, while keeping thorough records in EHD and HMS and collaborating with partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental health or related science.
• CEHP/REHS/RS certification or eligibility within six months.
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER or eligibility within six months.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours as needed.
• Experience in environmental health programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review OSTDS construction apps and site evaluations for compliance.
• Inspect AST/UST facilities and investigate spills; document findings.
• Inspect facilities handling biomedical waste, tattooing, tanning, food service, pools or housing.
• Record data in EHD and submit reports to supervisors.
• Track inspections to meet timeframes and generate quota reports.
