Job summary

Florida Department of Health is seeking an Environmental Specialist I to support Pasco County Health Department in protecting and improving public health in Florida. The role involves inspections across CEHP, Water, and OSTDS programs, with a six-month window to certify in a primary program and frequent travel within the county.

The incumbent will work under supervision, aiding in program evaluations and enforcement actions, and must maintain records, CEUs, and certifications as required.

Qualifications

• Ability to investigate environmental health issues and conduct assessments.
• Ability to document findings clearly and support conclusions and enforcement actions.
• Ability to collect data electronically in the field and update databases.
• Ability to collect water, soil, and food samples as required.
• Knowledge of physical or natural sciences and analytical techniques.
• Strong communication skills and ability to convey information effectively.
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections and investigations for CEHP, Water Program, and OSTDS programs.
• Work toward certification in primary programs within six months.
• Assist in enforcement activities and program evaluations.
• Travel in Pasco County and possibly statewide to cover assigned areas.
• Maintain records and ensure data accuracy and CEU requirements.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
