The Environmental Specialist III at the Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County develops, implements, and oversees quality projects and initiatives for Community Environmental Health programs. This full-time Career Service position conducts routine field inspections across multiple environmental public health program areas including food hygiene, biomedical waste, swimming pools, and tattoo facilities throughout the county. The successful candidate will work independently with minimal supervision, serve as a subject matter expert, and lead quality improvement initiatives while providing exceptional customer service.

Key qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree with major coursework in environmental health, environmental science, or physical or biological science
• Certified Environmental Health Professional (CEHP) or Registered Sanitarian/Registered Environmental Health Professional (RS/REHS)
• Minimum 3 years of field inspection experience in three or more Environmental Public Health programs
• Current driver's license and reliable transportation throughout Hillsborough County
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, drive up to one hour between sites, and perform physical tasks including walking, bending, and climbing stairs
