Job summary

Florida Department of Health in St. Johns County is seeking an Environmental Specialist II to perform inspections and investigations across Food Safety and Sanitation, Migrant Labor Housing, and Body Piercing programs.

The role includes follow-up, data entry, and reporting using Environmental Health Database systems. Must hold a 4-year degree in a related science and obtain the Food Safety and Sanitation certification within six months.

Qualifications

• Requires a four-year degree in public health, environmental health, environmental science, or a related physical/biological science.
• Food Safety and Sanitation Program certification expected within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections (initial, routine, and follow-up) for Food Safety and Sanitation, Migrant Labor Housing, and Body Piercing programs.
• Review and investigate complaints related to food establishments, migrant housing facilities, and body piercing establishments.
• Complete follow-up for any complaints or investigations in assigned programs.
• Provide data entry and maintain inspection records using Environmental Health Database or other automated systems.
• Perform duties as assigned and assist in emergency responses as needed.
