Erie County Department of Health is seeking a Public Health Customer Service Specialist in Erie. The role is an entry-level position serving as the primary contact for information, assistance, or services related to public health.

  • Assist individuals in navigating public health resources and accessing services.
  • Deliver clear, concise information to the public.
  • Schedule appointments for public health services (e.g., vaccinations, screenings).
  • Maintain accurate records of interactions, payments, inquiries, and outcomes.
  • Process payments and licensing/permitting information.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance service quality and efficiency.
  • Perform other related work as required.

Definition of Class
  • This position is an entry-level position serving as the primary point of contact for individuals seeking information, assistance, or services related to public health. An employee in this position must be able to work with considerable independence and initiative.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responds to inquiries by providing timely and accurate responses to the public regarding public health programs, services, and resources via phone, email, or in-person interactions.
  • Assists individuals in navigating public health resources, programs, and services available in the community and offers guidance on accessing necessary assistance.
  • Delivers clear and concise information to the public.
  • Assists individuals in scheduling appointments for public health services such as vaccinations, screenings, or other services.
  • Maintains accurate records of customer interactions, payments, inquiries, and outcomes in accordance with established protocols, procedures, and policies.
  • Processes payments and associated information related to licensing and permitting.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and making recommendations to enhance the quality and efficiency of customer service delivery.
  • Performs other related work as required.

Conditions Of Employment
  • The selected candidate will be pre-employment required to obtain, at their own expense, 3 forms of clearance, including PA State Police Criminal History Record Check; PA Child Abuse History; and FBI Criminal History Background Check including finger printing.
