Job summary

AvonRisk is seeking a Claims Adjuster to support assigned public entity clients, exercising independent judgement on LIAB, claims management, and settlements. Responsibilities include investigating liability, communicating with claimants and attorneys, and preparing records and reports.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree preferred; 3+ years in insurance claims; strong written/verbal communication. Benefits include comprehensive coverage and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree preferred.
• At least three (3) years of experience with insurance claims, self insurance, pooled insurance, or Joint Powers Authorities.
• Possess comprehensive knowledge relating to the handling of public entity liability claims.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, analyze, and determine the extent of insurer liability for personal, casualty, or property loss or damages.
• Recommend claims action and set reserves in line with guidelines and authority levels.
• Communicate with claimants, clients, and attorneys throughout the claims process.
• Interview medical specialists, agents, witnesses, or claimants to gather information.
• Create and maintain records, diaries, and reports in the claims system.
• Calculate benefit payments, negotiate settlements, and approve payments within limits.
• Collaborate with counsel in preparation for litigation and assemble evidence.
