Job summary

The Spokane Maple Community Services Office in Spokane, WA, is hiring a Public Benefits Specialist 4, Leadworker to lead a team processing cash, medical, and food benefits. You will assign work, audit cases, and coach staff to ensure high-quality service delivery.

As PBS4 Leadworker, you’ll establish financial eligibility, interpret rules, and develop procedures, while coordinating with staff and community partners to support clients through their applications.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Washington Administrative Code (WAC) and policies used to determine eligibility.
• Proficiency with computer systems to process cases, research information, and make accurate eligibility decisions.
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex data from multiple sources for accurate case actions.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills for interactions with clients and staff.
• Ability to independently prioritize and manage a high-volume workload to meet deadlines.
• Resilience and professionalism when handling high-pressure situations.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assign, coordinate, and monitor the work of PBS staff processing cash, food, and medical benefits.
• Provide guidance on complex eligibility determinations and procedural implementation.
• Conduct audits and case reviews to ensure accuracy and identify error trends.
• Verify and establish overpayments and complete referrals to the Office of Financial Recovery.
• Coach and train staff to promote professional development and program compliance.
• Review and improve procedures to maintain efficient workflows and service delivery.
