Job summary

City of Lubbock is seeking a qualified administrative/budget analyst to assist in budget preparation, analyze departmental information, and prepare reports for supervisor review. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in public administration or related field with municipal experience and a valid driver’s license.

The successful candidate will analyze personnel utilization, train needs, and supervise clerical staff while managing public inquiries and performing related duties as directed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration or related field with 6–18 months experience in municipal administration.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to analyze problems and make sound recommendations.
  • Speak and write effectively.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with administrators, employees, and the public.
  • Communicate effectively with others.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in budget preparation and maintain records of budget status;
  • Gather and analyze information and statistics on departmental activities;
  • Prepare analyses, summary reports, presentations, and recommendations for review of supervisor;
  • Conduct studies of personnel utilization and training needs;
  • Relieve supervisor of routine administrative details;
  • Answer inquiries from the public and handle general public relations work;
  • Supervise the work of clerical employees;
  • Coordinate various meetings for supervisor;
  • Perform related duties as directed.
