Job description

If you've seen an insurance claim where the payout didn't come close to what the policyholder actually deserved and you’re passionate about advocating for them, this is the role for you. We've built a path toward becoming a licensed Public Adjuster and growing in this career.

At Allied Public Adjusters, our mission is a world where every property loss is settled truthfully and equitably. Since 1997, we've worked on behalf of policyholders to demand what's right by using technical expertise, field investigations, and uncompromising quality. We empower policyholders with the most skillful representation, while ensuring carriers have the information they need to do what's right.

This role is for an experienced construction and insurance-restoration professional OR a claims manager looking to move from the carrier side to the policyholder's side. You'll advocate for policyholders in appraising and negotiating their claim throughout the process, starting by inspecting losses and producing defensible estimates alongside a Public Adjuster, then building toward independently owning smaller, routine claims with structured guidance and oversight along the way.

Responsibilities

Scope & Estimate Accuracy

  • Inspect losses and produce defensible, Xactimate-based estimates alongside a Public Adjuster

  • Write or direct property damage estimates in connection with insurance claims to Allied's quality standards

  • Bring construction expertise to identify damage, scope repairs accurately, and know when to involve a specialist

Case Investigation & Advocacy

  • Investigate claims with the same depth and rigor as Allied's Public Adjusters — prioritizing investigation over simply following guidelines

  • Build and maintain litigation-grade documentation and file discipline

  • Learn to use Allied's resources (legal, LMI, engineering) to strengthen a claim

  • For adjusters transitioning from the carrier side: actively shift from a \"gatekeeper\" mindset to an advocacy-first mindset

Client & Claim Ownership

  • Directly manage the client/policyholder relationship from assignment through resolution

  • Begin owning smaller and more routine claims independently, with MPA oversight, as skills and confidence build

  • Explain construction and claims concepts in plain language a non-technical client can understand

Growth & Development

  • Learn Allied's claims process, policy interpretation, and advocacy fundamentals

  • Progress toward independently building and defending claim files by month 6

  • Work toward eligibility for, or active pursuit of, a California Public Adjuster license

Expected Results

  • Manage, develop, and settle all assigned claims while collaborating with internal support functions (estimator, collections, legal) to maximize outcomes for clients

  • Demonstrate relentless advocacy while maintaining professionalism

  • Maintain excellent communication standards: proactive client updates, clear expectations, well documented outreach

  • Build trust and strong relationships with clients to produce high client satisfaction and referral feedback

  • Meet or exceed claim cycle time standards while balancing quality and urgency

  • Produce audit-ready files with complete documentation

  • Collaborate effectively with company departments to drive results

  • Demonstrate strategic, clear intentioned claim critical thinking

  • Show ownership mentality by treating every claim like it matters in a proactive manner

  • Demonstrate resilience and persistence, and embrace objections and denials

  • Contribute positively to the company culture and results

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience: either hands-on insurance-restoration construction/estimating work, or as a claims manager on the carrier side.

  • Has personally built and defended work product in a high-stakes (for example, testifying at deposition or trial, serving as a witness on a formal appraisal panel)

  • Has directly owned a claim or client relationship from assignment through resolution

  • Professional and polished in presentation, comfortable representing the Allied brand directly with clients and carriers

  • Ideally, has Xactimate experience and written over 100 property damage estimates connected to insurance claims over the past two years.

  • Explicit willingness to work a results-driven, field-based schedule that isn't a fixed 9–5

  • Ideal experience also includes hands-on construction work

Logistics

  • Location: Glendale or Newport Beach, CA; and field-based across Southern California

  • Hours/Schedule: 9 am to 6 pm, and overtime hours are expected

Salary

  • $65,000–$100,000 base (based on experience); non-exempt, overtime eligible

Benefits

  • 401(k) with 3% non-elective contribution

  • Health and dental insurance options

  • Car & phone allowance

  • Generous paid holidays and paid time-off policy

  • Career advancement and professional development opportunities
