Job summary

Qualifications

Company Description Niland Group LLC is a licensed Public Adjuster firm dedicated to representing policyholders in their property insurance claims. The firm supports homeowners and business owners in protecting their assets, maximizing claim recovery, and expediting the claims process. Role Description This is a full-time, hybrid Public Adjuster role based in the Greater Syracuse–Auburn Area. The Public Adjuster will inspect and document residential and commercial property damage, gather supporting evidence, and prepare detailed estimates and reports. Daily responsibilities include interpreting insurance policies, evaluating coverage, negotiating with insurance carriers, and managing the claim process from initial review through final settlement. The role involves regular communication with policyholders to explain claim status, set expectations, and provide guidance on next steps. The Public Adjuster will also maintain accurate records, meet deadlines, and collaborate with internal team members and external professionals such as contractors, engineers, and attorneys when needed.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in Property Damage evaluation and documentation, including residential and commercial losses.
  • Hands-on experience with Adjustments and claim valuation, including preparing estimates and negotiating settlements.
  • Strong background in Insurance Claims and Property Claims handling, with at least 3 years of experience, preferably with first-party claims.
  • Solid understanding of Insurance policy language, coverage interpretation, and applicable regulations.
  • Relevant Public Adjuster license (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe) in applicable jurisdictions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-service skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Comfort working in a hybrid environment, including field inspections, in-office collaboration, and remote work.
  • Proficiency with common office software and claim documentation tools; familiarity with estimating software is a plus.
  • Previous experience in property restoration, construction, insurance adjusting, or related fields is highly beneficial.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
