Job summary

Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD seeks a pharmacy technician to assist the pharmacist in hospital pharmaceutical care. You will prepare and process medications under supervision, monitor storage in nursing units, and perform bulk compounding as required.

You will record patient and medication information, help with ordering and stocking supplies, and respond courteously to patients, families, and staff while maintaining patient confidentiality and age-specific care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) required; registration with the South Dakota Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in hospital pharmaceutical care services.
• Prepare and process medications under supervision of a pharmacist.
• Check nursing units for proper medication storage.
• Perform bulk compounding and document patient/medication information for pharmacist validation as required by state law.
• Order, stock, and transport pharmaceutical supplies as needed.
• Respond to patients, families, visitors, and employees in a courteous, collaborative manner.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times and demonstrate age-specific competencies.
