Job summary

Woodfords Family Services in Maine seeks a PTC Program Training Specialist to design, update, and deliver curricula for diverse learners statewide, including staff, program participants, self-advocates, and natural supports. The role offers in-person and virtual instruction with opportunities to travel across Maine.

You will teach Direct Support Worker and Core curricula, BHP and DSP Pathways, CPR, and other required trainings, while maintaining instructor certifications and up-to-date materials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, or related field.
  • At least two years of instructional experience with adult learners.
  • At least two years of experience working with adults or children with developmental disabilities.
  • Eligibility for BHP and DSP certification.
  • Experience with curriculum development.
  • Strong computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Team-oriented with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, review, and deliver training curriculum to statewide customers.
  • Teach Direct Support Worker (DSW) and Core curricula, BHP and DSP Pathways, CPR, and other trainings.
  • Deliver trainings in classroom and virtual settings.
  • Maintain instructor certifications (American Heart Association First Aid/CPR, Behavioral Health Professional, College of Direct Support, Core Pathways, DSW).
  • Maintain teaching materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Support classroom setup and breakdown; keep materials organized and up-to-date.
  • Travel to satellite locations across Maine (Augusta, Bangor, Kennebunk, Manchester, Waterville, Presque Isle, etc.).
  • Available to teach evening and weekend classes as needed.

Position Summary

The PTC Program Training Specialist plays a vital role in the development, maintenance, and delivery of training curricula for customers across Maine. This position supports provider agency staff, Workforce Development Program participants, self-advocates, and natural supports through high-quality instruction in a variety of training areas, including Direct Support Worker (DSW) and PTC Core curricula, BHP and DSP Pathways, CPR, and other required courses.

This role is ideal for an experienced trainer who enjoys both curriculum development and instruction, thrives in a dynamic environment, and is committed to supporting learners through engaging, professional, and accessible training experiences delivered in person and virtually.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, review, and deliver training curriculum to statewide customers, including provider agency staff, Workforce Development Program participants, self-advocates, and natural supports.
  • Teach a range of PTC courses, including Direct Support Worker (DSW) and Core curricula, BHP and DSP Pathways, CPR, and other required trainings.
  • Deliver trainings in classroom settings and through virtual training platforms, depending on program needs.
  • Achieve and maintain all instructor certifications required to carry out position responsibilities, including American Heart Association First Aid/CPR, Behavioral Health Professional, College of Direct Support, Core Pathways, and DSW curricula.
  • Maintain all teaching materials, classroom supplies, and training equipment.
  • Support classroom setup and breakdown and ensure training materials are organized, current, and ready for use.
  • Travel to satellite locations across Maine, including Augusta, Bangor, Kennebunk, Manchester, Waterville, Presque Isle, and other locations as needed.
  • Be available to teach evening and weekend classes based on program needs.
Salary
  • Full-time, Monday - Friday typical schedule
  • $49,000 - $55,000 based on education and experience
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, or a related field required
  • At least two years of relevant instructional experience with adult learners required
  • At least two years of experience working with adults or children with developmental disabilities requiredEligibility for BHP and DSP certification required
  • Experience with curriculum development required
  • Strong knowledge of computer technology required, including Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail required
