Job summary

Alaska Railroad is seeking a Systems Engineer for the Advanced Train Control Systems (ATCS) department. This tiered role focuses on PTC and its subsystems, with responsibilities in test environments and production deployments.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a technical discipline is required; Bachelor’s preferred.
• Progression through tiers requires increasing PTC and railroad systems knowledge.
• Experience with test environments, validation, and change management is expected.
• Knowledge of Hours of Service and safety-critical systems is valued.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and administer Automated Test Environments (ATE) and related servers.
• Perform system validation and acceptance testing of PTC software releases.
• Manage PTC subsystems and messaging/database infrastructure in test and production.
• Mentor Tier I–III engineers and coordinate with the ATCS team.
