Job summary

Luzerne County Community College is seeking a Seasonal SHINE program assistant to support daily instruction at the center, assist with dinner service, homework help, and a range of enrichment activities after the school day ends.

Responsibilities include enforcing the SHINE Behavior Policy, assisting with student evaluations, and attending monthly Family Nights and staff meetings. A High School Diploma is required, and college enrollment is encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Graduate; currently enrolled in a college-level degree or certificate program.
  • Experience: Minimum one year of experience in a school setting preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent oral and written communication and strong interpersonal abilities.

Salary Range: $15.00 Hourly

Limited hourly contract not to exceed 500 hours for a contract year; working hours are Monday through Thursday for 3 hours per day after the conclusion of the standard school day at the center;

Assist with daily instruction at assigned center for 3 hours of SHINE; assist with dinner service and support homework completion assistance, character development, relationship-building, cultural enrichment, recreational activities, and service-learning opportunities into daily programming; assist with enforcement of the SHINE Behavior Policy and notify Lead Teacher if any behavioral issues arise providing documentation; participate in mandatory staff meetings as scheduled; attend and assist with monthly Family Nights; assist with student evaluations.

Non-Essential Position Duties and Responsibilities

Other related duties as assigned.
