Job summary

Luzerne County Community College is seeking a Seasonal SHINE Program Educator to support after-school activities at the center. The role includes collaborating with the Lead Teacher to develop project-based activities aligned with SHINE guidelines, delivering curriculum, and assisting with dinner service, homework help, and character development.

Job description

Position Type: Seasonal Education Level: 4 Year Degree Salary Range: $28.00 Hourly Limited hourly contract not to exceed 500 hours for a contract year; working hours are Monday through Thursday for 3 hours per day after the conclusion of the standard school day at the center; daily instruction at assigned center for 3 hours of SHINE; collaborate with Lead Teacher to develop and implement project-based activities that are developmentally appropriate and aligned with the instructional level of participating students; implement the established curriculum and instructional activities in accordance with SHINE Program guidelines; assist with dinner service and support the integration of homework assistance, character development, relationship-building, cultural enrichment, recreational activities, and service-learning opportunities into daily programming; support safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation and positive social development; enforcer of the SHINE Behavior Policy; communicated with parents and families regarding behavior issues, SHINE news, and upcoming events including monthly family dinners, homework completion, and attendance while logging results of all contacts; participate in mandatory staff meetings as scheduled; assist with student evaluations; assist with tracking daily attendance and submit weekly to SHINE office staff; assist in conducting mandatory monthly safety drills as established by the SHINE office; communicated with parents and families regarding family dinners, cancellations, and date changes; attend and assist with monthly Family Nights.

Education

Bachelors Degree in Education, Curriculum, Educational Leadership, or related field and valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification.

Experience
