Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Secretary training or knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Must have Nurse Aide I course and competency exams and be listed as eligible for employment on the Iowa Direct Care Worker Registry.
• Completion of Nurse Aide II course preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs receptionist duties for the department, including answering the telephone, taking messages, and meeting and directing visitors.
• Monitors condition and operation of equipment and supplies, coordinates supply management and reports issues.
• Transcribes/processes orders, maintains patient charting forms, and updates records.
• Collaborates with nurses and providers to coordinate patient care, referrals, and appointments.
• Maintains patient census, admissions/discharges/transfers in hospital system, and ensures accuracy of care level.
• Assists patients and documents care and observations in records, informing the primary nurse of status changes.
• Engages in professional development and supports team through committee involvement.
• Responds to call lights promptly and assists with patient requests.
