Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Clinical Technician to support nursing staff in delivering patient care under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses. This full-time role is based on campus in Iowa City and involves evening and night shifts with weekend/holiday rotation.

Responsibilities include patient admission/discharge, data collection, and protecting patient privacy, while contributing to quality management and education for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• One year of health care experience involving direct patient care.
• Ability to observe and report changes in patient condition.
• Comfort with maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient admission, transfer and discharge.
• Completes baseline admission data on patient arrival.
• Observes patient for changes in physical condition.
• Demonstrates competency in technical skills and ages-appropriate care.
• Maintains a safe environment and follows standard precautions.
• Documents information obtained during tests/procedures.
• Works as part of a team and supports unit staff.
• Performs duties under direction of the charge nurse.
