Job summary

UI Health in Chicago, IL seeks a Nursing Technician for 8E Adult Psychiatry (50% Part-Time, Evenings). You will support patient care under RN/LPN supervision, document in the EHR, and assist with admissions, transfers and discharges.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety and learning in a fast-paced psychiatric unit. The position requires a CNA license, active IDPH registry, CPR/BLS and strong communication skills; hospital experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: High school graduation or equivalent.
• Possession of a CNA license from an accredited institution/school/program.
• Registered and active in the Illinois Department of Public Health – Health Care Work Registry.
• Current AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit specific certifications
• Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between patients, family, and health care providers
• Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training
• Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills and work history required.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient admission, transfer or discharge; helps with activities of daily living.
• Documents patient information in the EHR (vital signs, care provided, intake/output).
• Acts as patient/family advocate and provides feedback to RN or LPN.
• Demonstrates teamwork and communication to achieve quality outcomes and patient safety.
• Participates in departmental and shared leadership activities; supports unit goals.
• Identifies recurring issues and participates in problem solving.
• Collaborates with staff to provide learning experiences for staff and students.
• Pursues professional growth and development through learning needs.
• Performs duties related to departmental specialization and other duties as assigned.
