Job summary

UI Health in Chicago, IL is seeking a Nursing Technician for the Emergency Services to support patient care under RN supervision. The role uses Relationship-Based Care and teamwork to improve outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with admissions, documenting vital signs in the EHR, advocating for patients, and contributing to safety and quality initiatives. This is a 1.0 FTE with rotating shifts and a flex evenings schedule.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• CNA license from an accredited program.
• Current BLS/CPR and required unit-specific certifications.
• Effective communication skills to support therapeutic relationships.
• Intermediate computer skills and EHR proficiency.
• Excellent attendance and dependable work history.

Responsibilities

• Assist with admission, transfer or discharge and support daily living activities.
• Document vital signs and nursing care in the EHR.
• Advocate for patients and families, providing comfort and information.
• Demonstrate UI Health values through teamwork and safety practices.
• Participate in department goals and problem-solving activities.
