Job summary

Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services is seeking a Psychiatric Support Staff in Kalamazoo. You will assist medical staff with clinical tasks, manage patient data, and support daily operations in a fast-paced behavioral health setting.

The role emphasizes compassionate care, accurate record-keeping, and teamwork within a multidisciplinary group. Prior psychiatric facility experience is preferred and CEU credits are expected yearly.

Qualifications

• A minimum of three years of progressively responsible support services work preferred.
• Position requires individual to be a registered or certified Medical Assistant.
• Ongoing CEU credit requirements must be met yearly.
• Experience in a behavioral health / psychiatric facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Offers support to team (check in/out of patients, triaging calls, opening/closing responsibilities).
• Administrative support including: answering questions, scanning/copying, letters of correspondence, monitoring psychiatry staff schedules.
• Check vital signs as assigned for psychiatry patients.
• Maintain composure in high-stress environments including crisis calls.
• Complete phone triage, document calls, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
• Work with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure excellent patient experience.
• Perform office duties like patient registration, insurance verification, and courtesy calls.
• May assist physicians with medical records in the EMR system.
