Job summary

Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport, NY is seeking a Part‑Time Nights Registered Nurse in Psychiatry. The RN will diagnose and treat health problems using nursing methods, develop care plans, administer medications, and participate in infection control.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited nursing program, NYS RN license, and BLS from the American Heart Association. Preferred BSN, ACLS, PMH-BC, and one year of behavioral health experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current NYS RN license or eligibility.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s condition and coordinate nursing care with the treatment team.
• Develop an individualized care plan including teaching needs and discharge planning.
• Administer direct care and medications as required by patient care plan.
• Practice infection control and maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to Charge RN/Clinician.
• Develop and maintain written plan of care, set patient goals with patient/family.
• Document patient and family teaching in medical records and ensure alignment with physician directives.
• Collaborate with staff and other departments to ensure quality care.
• Participate in unit/hospital quality assurance activities to advance the nursing profession.
