Job summary

Prime Healthcare is seeking a Behavioral Health Nursing Assistant (Certified or Non-Certified) at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL. The role supports patients with mental health needs, assisting with daily activities, monitoring behavior, and collaborating with the care team to de-escalate potentially critical situations.

Applicants may be CNAs or non-certified NAs with relevant qualifications; current BLS is required, with a preference for six months of prior acute care

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire; required.
• Current BLS upon hire and maintain current.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months’ previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily activities: bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, and ambulation.
• Monitor and report changes in behavior, mood, or physical condition; observe signs of agitation, self-harm, or aggression.
• Help maintain a safe, structured environment; use de-escalation techniques to calm distressed or agitated patients.
• Accurately document behavior, interventions, and vital signs; communicate with the care team.
• Encourage participation in group activities or therapy sessions; provide emotional support and build trust.
• Assist with cleaning and maintaining patient rooms; stock equipment and supplies.
