Job summary

Prime Healthcare's Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL is seeking a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (Psych Acute) to provide care for patients with mental health and substance use disorders. The role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, conducting assessments, administering medications, and educating patients and families to support recovery and safe discharge.

The ideal candidate holds a current RN license, BLS certification, and knowledge of behavioral health

Qualifications

Must have current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.

Responsibilities

Gauges the behavioral health patients’ psychiatric state in collaboration with the care team.
Demonstrates de-escalation skills and maintains patient safety during restraint or seclusion events.
Prepares the patient and family for a safe discharge and continuity of care.
Conducts initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of physical, emotional, and mental health.
Monitors vital signs, intake/output and other clinical indicators.
Safely administers prescribed medications and monitors for adverse effects.
Acts as liaison between patients, families and the healthcare team to meet needs.
