Job summary

Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, Alabama seeks a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to provide general patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role involves assisting with daily living activities, recording vitals, and monitoring coronary equipment on a coronary unit.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, current CNA certification, and BLS. Phlebotomy and EKG certifications are preferred, with acute care experience beneficial.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• State-approved CNA certification required.
• Phlebotomy certification on hire preferred.
• EKG certification on hire preferred.
• BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and kept current.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.

Responsibilities

• Support patients with activities of daily living and provide basic nursing care under RN supervision.
• Record vital signs, assist with bathing, feeding, toileting, repositioning, specimen collection, and patient transport.
• Monitor coronary equipment, observe rhythm strips, and alert nurses to arrhythmias or rate changes.
• Assist with lead/wire care and ensure monitors stay accurate; troubleshoot interruptions to monitoring.
